OPERATIONS MANAGER

You might make a great operations manager for our local nonprofit. You are not expected to know every facet of the job when you join. Just bring a willingness to learn and your own unique skills and abilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT, COMPENSATION, AND MORE

  • Nags Head, NC
  • Flexible work schedule: all in-office or hybrid (some in-person 9-5 required)
  • Two possibilities:
    1. Full Time Year-Round (40 hours/week) $60,000 per year salary; 15 days PTO per year and retirement savings match of 3%; no health insurance offered
    2. Part Time School Year-Only (30 hours/week 9 months/year) $32,000 per year salary; 10 days PTO per year and retirement savings match of 3%; no health insurance offered

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Marketing Management
Liaising with the social media content creator and website manager; ensuring continuity between our website, emails and social media; providing raw content to the social media manager; working with the client services manager to identify potential testimonial candidates; working with our storytelling volunteer to contact candidates for permission to share their testimonials and stories in our marketing; working with our outside designer and printer to produce testimonial marketing pieces; reviewing our website pages; giving our website manager the up-to-date content he needs, such as annual donor lists

Event Calendar and Volunteer Management
Working with our website manager and social media manager to get all relevant information about upcoming events properly publicized; organizing the volunteer opportunities at events using our sign-up software; maintaining the volunteer email contact list; writing and sending monthly emails to our volunteers

Donor Relations and Fundraising Support
Entering data in our donor database; designing fundraising communication pieces; communicating with donors by phone, letter and email; generating donor reports as needed; being the point of contact between the Relief Foundation and our third-party fundraisers; working with exec. dir. to assign tasks to fundraising subcommittees; supporting, monitoring and recording task completion; managing pledges receivable; performing fundraising data integrity tasks/reconciliations; generating data reports used for tracking fundraising efforts.

Event Support
Designing sponsor opportunity one-pagers; collecting sponsor logos; invoicing sponsors; designing and sending sponsorship acknowledgements; “liaison” with the event organizing committee

Program Data Collection and Documentation
Sending client surveys; collecting responses; creating meaningful reports to the board; overseeing client services data integrity; creating monthly data reports on program activities; ensuring accuracy and completeness of program and donor data; reconciling and maintaining historical data from multiple sources; maintaining historical data and providing trend reports

Board and Committee Meeting Management
Providing all the logistical support for about twenty board and committee meetings each year (Outlook calendar invites; drafting agendas in consultation with board members; attending the meetings; editing, sharing, and storing the minutes afterward)

Human Resources Support
Working with the exec director and finance manager on employee handbook updates and maintenance of current job descriptions and processes

QUALIFICATIONS

Optional and appreciated

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office software, especially Excel
  • Experience with program management, volunteer coordination, or donor relations

Required

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions efficiently and independently
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Elevated level of people skills to interact with staff, donors, volunteers, and external stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
  • A passion for supporting the organization’s mission and goals
