History
- The Collaborative met first in 2010 to provide a way for local helping groups to network with one another and better refer clients to one another. Quarterly meetings began.
- In 2013, with the help of a grant from the Outer Banks Community Foundation, the Collaborative introduced the NC 211 information and referral hotline in Dare County. NC 211 maintains up-to-date contact info for all local services. It is available 24/7 and in multiple languages.
- In 2018, NC 211 became the data backbone of NCCARE360, the digital health and human services referral platform sponsored by NC DHHS and the Foundation for Health Leadership & Innovation. It is unclear if this platform will be adopted to provide integrated client management among multiple agencies on the Outer Banks as the state leaders hope.
Today
- Collaborative participants take turns hosting quarterly meetings.
- There is a 211 Fund held at the Outer Banks Community Foundation. Distributions from this fund are available to defray the costs related to the operation of NC211 in Dare County.
Tomorrow
- Anything is possible. Let’s continue working together to improve delivery of services to members of our community.
